Fall Trends 2013 (Pt.1): Splurge Worthy

Fall ready looks with high price tags!

Don’t worry, we’re just looking…

These are some of my favorite designers and crazy good looks for the fall season of 2013. Totally worth $plurging on (if you have it, of course.) Let’s start off this series with something we ALL need in our closets…….

Whether you like “cool and muted,” “dark and deep” or “vibrant and bright” colors, this is the season to try them all.   Jumping right into the deep end, I chose purple. Of course purple is a sign of royalty so that helps boost the confidence level a tad. Also on trend…matching your colors. I’m beyond excited for this! It’s like the old rules of fashion, match your bag with your shoes and belt!

Where To Buy: (clockwise from left)

$395 ~ Animal Print Satchel ~  Longchamp

$725 ~ Stiletto Heels ~  Gucci

Lustful Looks

Hey there stylish sweets! Welcome to another mid-week in August, we won’t be able to say that pretty soon! As September approaches, the weather cools down, trees lose their leaves, and we start reaching for layers. For fall, I’ll continue to do shopping posts which feature items that are affordable and those that are, um, shall we say…not too affordable for us everyday chicks! Also, drum roll please… New York Fashion Week is coming up in September as well. Definitely excited for that but between those runway posts, I’m thinking of doing an everyday post just for the month of September. Currently trying to decide between “30 Days, 30 Heels” or just “30 Days, 30 Shoes”…what do you guys think?

Anywho, now that I have you all caught up…let’s look at a few things I’m lusting over right now! Some of these are far out of my reach but that won’t stop me from drooling over them from time to time. See what’s on my mind and what needs to be in my closet, after the jump! (click “read more” below)

Ok, so you see the price tags…I’ll just enjoy lusting from a distance this time around. Although, every single piece would look very good in my wardrobe! ‘Twas fun dreaming, don’t you think?! What’s something you’re drooling over this month?

Let’s Go au naturale! #AllNaturalStyleSecrets

If you know me in the real world, you know that I rarely wear makeup everyday. Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE MAKEUP but showing a fresh face to the world is a thing of beauty. It shows confidence and your natural features. So when Lucky Mag and the Lucky Mag Community reached out to do a post featuring a new natural product, I jumped at the chance!

Disclosure: I received a free sample of this product from Lucky and Seventh Generation for use in connection with this blog.

And here’s what I received! Seventh Generation Boosts: Firming

I’ve been using this product for 3 days and my skin feels ahh-mazing!

As my style is already fairly natural, I figured what way to show that off than in my “natural” habitat?! At home, relaxing on the couch while enjoying some tv! Natural is comfortable for me. A chambray shirt from Old Navy and curls are all I need for a relaxing evening. Keeping it simple is my secret to effortless style.

Trust me, you’re going to love it!

Prints are Hot for Summer

We’re definitely deep into summer now guys! It’ll be fall before we know it! So before we have to dig out the heavy artillery aka boots and other winter attire, let’s see what’s trending. During the spring, I created several fashion boards for the trends then. Now that we’re in the warmer months, take a look below at the Polyvore board and the details after.

Plus Size Fashion Trends

Yes, PRINTED PANTS!

Ladies, don’t be afraid of prints…let your curves shine in skinny jeans. I’m in love with every single pair of pants in this post! Favorite thing about these styles, they’re versatile for the summer season and beyond. Cropped pants lend themselves to the warmer months but can also be worn in the fall and winter by pairing them with tall boots. Plus, they’re cropped so your legs get air when it’s blazing hot outside.

*Key thing to remember about summer wardrobe items: the material is thinner.

HAPPY SHOPPING!

Out and About and An Outfit

Happy Friday stylish sweets!

Hopefully everyone had a great week, if not, the weekend is finally here! Cheers to that!

Last weekend, I was tagging along with a friend while she went shopping. Yes, I Rena Fraz did NOT go shopping last week. Believe it people! While she was trying on shoes and driving, I was randomly taking pics in the mirror or with my feet up on the passenger side with my phone. What else was a chick going to do?! Of course, as forgetful as I am…totally forgot to post the pics on Instagram or Facebook.

In turn, we have this “Outfit of the day” post…enjoy!

Shirt: Lane Bryant ~ Burnout Cold Shoulder (sold out) ~ $40

Jeans: Lane Bryant  ~ Zippered Ankle Skinny Jeans (sold out in Cabaret/pink) ~ $59

Sandals: Ralph Lauren ~ (bought them almost 4 years ago at the RL outlet!) ~ $150

These are very close to the pair I have which are $249 at DSW

Ralph Lauren Collection ~ Viella Leather Flat Sandal

Bag: Coach ~ (also about 3 years old) ~ $498

As this post is coming together, you’re probably wondering, why I chose brown leather accessories….good question LOL! The real answer: you know those days, ladies, when you don’t feel like switching bags? Yea, this was definitely one of those days. Transferring everything to a white bag or summer bag would’ve been way too much that day so I stuck it out with brown. Not too bad.

One thing is definitely certain…my phone takes horrid pictures! I really need to start carrying my camera with me wherever I go. Been dreading that but it must be done!

Enjoy Your Weekend!

Carrying Heat: Summer 2013 Bag Trends

No, not THAT kind of heat! Heat as in…nice, good, fire, or so freaking hot (in a good way!) Speaking of “heat” just because it’s summer, that doesn’t mean it’s time to let go of the big bags, purses, and carryalls. It’s just time to upgrade and update your summer bag collection. Bags are just one of my many vices. Right up there next to shoes and jewelry, it’s pretty bad. So which bags are the most coveted in my eyes? This should come as no surprise when you find out that the following pieces of arm and shoulder candy are perfect for the sizzling summer heat!

These bags are very versatile and can be worn year round if you like…hint hint…that’s why I chose them! Trends can be a very touchy topic when it comes to fashion but these bags will be HOT for years to come. Don’t worry about cost while shopping either, there’s a price point for all of us bargain shoppers too!

Happy Shopping!

I Can See Clearly Now

How many of you stylish sweets wear glasses?

 I’m betting it’s a lot.

Even if you don’t wear glasses, one of the major trends of 2013 is the “nerdy look.” Add a pair of non-prescription black rimmed glasses to any look and you’re “in-style,” amazing! Well, I’m here to tell you…I’m a wearer of glasses. I’ve worn them since high school. Tried contacts but with astigmatism…that can become a task.

Glasses it is!

It’s time for me to get a new pair and I usually purchase two pair at a time (for fashion purposes of course.) For that reason, I’ve been looking at more “affordable” places besides paying several hundred dollars per pair. My current pairs are DKNY…with that designer price plus the cost of lenses, I’m definitely looking save some coins while updating my look.

So, I was watching tv one day when this commercial aired from Glasses dot com

Totally had me confused!

At first, I was thinking…this can’t be a real commercial. You’re telling me that I can get 5 pairs of glasses delivered to me, keep them for a week, try them out, and then send them back…FOR FREE?! Seriously, for free? This is genius! It definitely has to be too good to be true. So I clicked on over to Glasses to see what the site was all about, low and behold, it’s pretty legit! It also helped that their verified Twitter account tweeted me to confirm their realness. After that, I was down with the cause and picked out five frames that I liked and had them sent to me.

Here’s how the frames arrive (non prescription)

SEE THE PAIRS I PICKED AFTER THE JUMP (click “READ MORE” down below)

And here’s the five pair I picked.

(I have a round face so I tend to stick with squared frames and stay faaaar away from round ones)

How cool is that?!

Amazing presentation too! Kudos to Glasses.com! Sleek black box with white satin interior is simple but perfect for seeing any and everything in the box.

Now, I bet you’re wondering…how do the glasses look on my chubby little face? Well, let me give you the rundown on HOW this came about: I seriously forgot all about taking pics until my mother (shocker!) asked me Friday night “when do you need to send those glasses back?” Of course, I knew they needed to be back within seven days but for some odd reason, it skipped my mind!

*insert mini panic attack*

I wasted NO time and grabbed the box of frames pulled my hair up and started snapping away! I grabbed some lip gloss and my makeup brush for a quick touch-up so excuse any flaws in my technique.

Even though Curves And Coffee is a “judge-free zone”  I still feel the need to give you guys a warning: these aren’t my best selfies LOL!

Thank goodness for a photo filter that reduces shine, HA!

Time to vote!

Which frames are your favorite from this group?

There might be another five frames soon since the availability of certain frames were limited. Figuring, I’ll take the three or four choices with the most votes and put them against each other and by 2015 we should have a winner! Just kidding! Should only take a couple of weeks.

Father’s Day

Whatever you do…

DON’T

GET

HIM

A

TIE!

He’ll look at it, tell you he loves it but chances are, he’s not going to wear it. There is an exception to this whole “tie thing”, it involves a bigger wallet and a man who has a penchant for the finer things in life. We’ll get to that a little later, be sure to stick around.

For those of you who don’t have the slightest idea of what to get the dad in your life…here we go! Oh and by dad of course I mean: Dad, Hubster, Dad to be, and/or any man who holds the title. Think of the things he likes which includes sports, television, movies, activities, cars, and things of the sort.

Below you’ll find tons of gift ideas for every type of guy imaginable! Check out the slide show with “Sports Dad, Business Dad. Tech Dad, and the Fashion Dad.” Several..well there’s quite A LOT of cool things. Seriously, even if the guy doesn’t fit into one of these categories, there’s still something there that he’ll love.

Click the arrow to view more…

Now, for the “tie thing”: if you’re going to get a man a tie, the first thing you want to do is, make sure he actually wears ties. Second, double check his closet to see if he doesn’t already have one similar to the one you’re purchasing. Third, don’t get a crazy tie…you know, one of those ties with beach balls and sandcastles on it.

Yea, don’t go that route.

Unless your dad is Craig Sager…

…then of course buy the beach ball tie!

Have you seen his closet? My goodness it’s like a living rainbow! Check out this Esquire piece on Mr. Sager’s many many suits… NBA Sideline Suits

Ok, lastly, in this whole “tie thing” spend some money on it! I know this sounds a little materialistic but trust me, if you want the man to wear the tie you bought, it’s gotta be bad! Bad meaning extremely dope and good of course. Plus, he’ll wear the tie into the office and brag about getting it. Men love office water cooler talk just like us.

If all else fails, simply ask the stubborn man what he’d like and voila, you’ll have the perfect gift in no time! There’s about four days to pick up any of these items but don’t worry, everything I picked is available at a store near you.

What I Wore

Welcome to the weekend!

I’m going to try something new here for this post and it’s totally unlike me (as Curves And Coffee) to feature posts solely about me. I try to provide you guys with the best style, shopping, fun, food, and lifestyle advice to cover your curvy days. Well, that’s what I set out to do when I started blogging again. There are tons of personal fashion blogs with “selfie/ootd (outfit of the day)” posts so my purpose was to focus more on the shopper or everyday curvy girl.

But…

Recently and previously, I’ve had the question “Why don’t you do more posts of you?” thrown at me. After much debate and on a day I was feeling EXCEPTIONALLY cute (because you know you’ve gotta at least FEEL cute to take pics of yourself and post them online for the world to see) I decided to do a “What I Wore” post!

Here’s what I wore…

As you can see, I’m still trying to get the hang of the whole “selfie” “ootd” “mirror pic” thing. Besides that, I loved this outfit and I was very comfy! I’m only 5’3 so even when it comes to “boyfriend cropped jeans” I still have to keep rolling up the bottom lol I missed the tall gene…thanks mom and dad!

Anywho…

The details of each item I wore are below. The only thing not shown is the bag I carried which was a tote by Coach. The charm bracelet is also by Coach but it’s literally almost ten years old and looks brand new! It’s the button tab bracelet with orange, pink, blue, green, and white colored tabs….the closest item sold by Coach today isn’t as colorful but it’s featured below as well.

Minus the bag and Guess watch, everything was under $50! I love style and fashion but please believe I’m a bargain hunter and always trying to get more bang for my buck! The jeans are priced at $45 but with a 30% off code I added to my cart that day, they were way less. The dip-dyed espadrilles…uh hello, Tar-Jay (Target) only $19! Even the Lane Bryant top was a steal! Regularly priced over $30, I used a 50% off code for my entire purchase! Seriously, sign up for emails or follow the store accounts on Twitter/Facebook….that’s how I find the sales! They aren’t hard to spot!

So, what do you think? Are we liking this choice? Should I possibly feature MORE OOTD posts? Am I asking too many questions?

Hope you enjoyed!
