Friday Fashion Faves: Designer Edition

It’s the weekend, time to to get your sleep in! That is literally ALL I want to do…sleep! We all know that’s not going to happen. Stopping by the post office to ship the fabulous Julep Maven prize, Iron Man 3 and shopping is on my agenda for the weekend. Not to shabby if I do say so myself. Speaking of shopping, I’ve been eyeing a certain pair of Kors sneakers lately.

THIS pair of Michael Kors sneakers to be exact. Priced at $195 on MichaelKors

It’s rare that I’ll get shoes from anywhere other than DSW because they have ev-e-ry-thing and it’s priced way way below suggested retail pricing. But this pair of sneaks need to be in my closet as soon as possible…they’ll go with practically anything and last through the seasons. While I was surfing the MK site, I noticed tons of other things and you know he does curvy sizes too!

Here are all of my current favorites from Michael Kors…ENJOY!

(remember to find more info on the items below…simply click the pic)

Well, that was fun. That won’t help my shopping addiction AT ALL.

Best Dressed: Nerd Prom Edition

Every year the White House invites the most influential people over for a big dinner. Affectionately called “Nerd Prom,” the correspondents dinner is a fashion show for those attending. I think it’s absolutely amazing to sit in a room, rub shoulders with outstanding people and eat dinner with the President of the United States. I mean, who wouldn’t want to meet President Obama or any other current president at the time?!

Anywho, tons of famous folks get dressed up for the occasion and stroll the red carpet. Now, we get to see who’s wearing who and who they’re most excited to see. Get ready to see who I picked and like for best dressed.

Kerry Washington looked absolutely stunning in basic black and white. This gorgeous printed Wes Gordon dress fits her like a glove.

This is Darren Criss. We don’t know what he’s wearing but he’s damn sure wearing it well!

There really isn’t anything Connie Britton can do that’ll make me dislike her. This blue lace Temperly London dress only makes me like her more.

Sofia Vergara always looks amazing so this Herve L. Leroux dress is no exception.

Ahh supermodels. Chrissy Teigen chose this Kaufmanfranco after battling with zippers on her first choice. She stunned us all with fiance John Legend.

Apparently blue was the color of the night and I have no qualms with that at all. Thank goodness these gorgeous ladies don’t either! Looking incredibly ahh-mazing from left to right.

Robin Wright Penn in Rolando Santana / Rebel Wilson in Theia / Morena Baccarin in J. Mendel

Speaking of blue, Claire Danes chose a light shade of the hue in this Prada sheath dress.

Megan Hilty shines in the Pantone color of the year by Badgley Mischka.

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss in Dolce & Gabbana and Michelle Dockery in Elie Saab both chose deep purple to wow on the red carpet. THIS is the purple you want to wear.

Amy Poehler decided to wear this shimmering Basler dress in white and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Chicks Dig The Long Ball

This chick digs it!

It’s no secret around here that I’m a girl who loves her sports. Being a sports fan has its ups and downs but of course when you love your team, you stand by your team. You go to the games, watch them on TV and cheer them on…even go into your home teams stadium and cheer for the opposing team (in my case.) This happens every sports season and baseball season is no different. You can hear me screaming and yelling at the TV or a streaming internet connection. Yep, I’m *that* girl.

So when I heard my favorite MLB team the Atlanta Braves were coming to Detroit to play the Tigers, I couldn’t wait to get tickets! Of course, once the tickets went on sale there were snatched up pretty quickly. Not a problem when  StubHub exists, thank you StubHub! Now my only problem is, what does a girl wear to a baseball game in Michigan during an extended winter in April.

Take Me Out

Ahhh, I happened to work my fashion magic! The game will start off with the sun shining but it will quickly do a 180 and turn chilly as the night time air rolls into the downtown part of the city. As the weather will change from sunny to semi-cold, I went with a warm quilted sweater jacket. The team tee paired with skinny jeans is ALWAYS a hit no matter what you’re doing (plus I want to be comfortable sitting for 3-4 hours outside.) Add some comfy and stylish Nike Jordan kicks and a crossbody (hands-free) bag and VOILA!

I am ready for some baseball!!

Do Blondes Have More Fun? Beyoncé surely thinks so!

Well, do they?

I was blonde once well twice if you count highlights. Can’t be entirely sure but it’s a pretty close race between being a blonde and being a brunette. I will say this, when you’re blonde, you feel invincible like you can do anything. I had zero regrets about going lighter so in my everyday life I felt powerful because I did something that not too many people were doing around me. Now that I’m back to black or dark brown…I still feel fearless except I also feel like I blend into the crowd. Whether dark or light, I had fun and made the best out of every situation.

So, where am I going with this, you ask?

Hmm…

The best way to do this is to just show you. So here you go!

Beautiful, curvy and golden-hued flowing waves and all…

Yes, those are in fact nipples but they are NOT Mrs. Carter’s! The designer of this perky yet sparkly ensemble is none other than bodysuit extraordinaires The Blonds

But WAIT! There’s more!

Thes nude-nipply number is also designed by The Blonds

I’m not sure what is actually going on here but hey boobies and nipples get the people talking, right Bey?!

The Blonds have designed stage wear for several amazing and curvy entertainers like, JLo (sorry, Jennifer Lopez, you’ll always be JLo to me), Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Britney Spears just to name a few. So they definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to sexy and dangerous curves! David and Phillipe Blond are practically glitter and gold geniuses if you ask me! Anyone that can make magic happen with faux nipples is amazing!

What do YOU think?

Spring Fling

It’s finally starting to feel like spring around here, can I get a big WOOHOO?! I don’t know about you guys but I’m tired of the layers! Just waiting on that moment when we can walk outside with a cute cardigan and sunglasses. I’ll still grab a scarf mother nature but the hat, gloves, tank, and under clothes won’t be coming with me. This brief fling with spring has me in the mood to shop and of course I have to share with my stylish sweets what’s on trend.

Spring Fling

Spring Fling by curvesandcoffee featuring a plus size denim jacket

How cute are these denim jackets?! Perfect for spring and summer in case there’s a chill in the air. What’s even more chic….colored denim is IN so that means vibrant jackets are given the green light for the season. No matter your size or color preference, it’s sure to be in the stores and making its’ way into your closet. All of the denim jackets above are pretty decently priced. I already have a jacket like the second jacket on the first row…just the average distressed denim but I am definitely loving on the “old school” bleached jacket and the orange one! Ok, I need more money lol!

Stepping Into Spring with Stylish Shoes

It’s been a while since I’ve went shoe shopping…by a while I mean a couple months. So yes, this is what I’d call a “drought” and I am upset about it! The best thing to do in this scenario: look at the new arrivals from the spring and summer lines that are going up on store shelves. Plus this will give me (and you) a pretty good idea of what we need covering our toesies in the coming weeks.

I’m a true girly girl with a sports edge so my shoe collection ranges from extreme heels to low skateboard type sneakers. Try to stay versatile with your shoe game because you never know when a certain pair will come in handy. If you want to try something new and different from your normal shoe-style, stick with the least expensive stores and brands. It’s not really a good idea to spend $250 on 2-inch hidden platform, 5-inch heels if you’ve never worn a pair before.

So, here’s where the fun part comes in! As I do with all shopping posts, there will be a dreamy high price shoe and “the look for less” shoe! Let’s get shoe shopping…
