Spring Ahead: Plus Size Fashion & Radiant Orchid

(Ahhhhhhhh)

That’s a collective sigh of relief knowing spring is right around the corner! Even though it doesn’t feel like spring in most of the states, we can still see what the season has to offer our closets!

Earlier this year, Pantone (“the world-renowned authority on color”) introduced us to Radiant Orchid, the 2014 color of the year.

Naturally, it’s bright and vibrant just in time for the weather to take a glorious turn! So, how can we incorporate this juicy color into our wardrobes now (and later?)

Let’s start with items you can easily add to update your outfits now:

As the season continues (or gets started) there will be lots more to choose from. So now that we have a few options, are you willing to add Radiant Orchid to your wardrobe?

The Curvy Girls Guide to Valentine’s Day Outfit: Girls Night Out or Date Night

Partying and getting tipsy with the girls or snuggling up to the boyfriend after a nice date?

Whatever your plans may be, you’re going to need a killer outfit!

Luckily for you, I’ve got a few ideas for you to choose from.

Let’s start with a night out with the boy…You can find these fabolous pieces at online stores like; loveculture.com :: plussizefix.com :: baublebar.com and more! Simply click the photos!!

Date Night on Valentines Day

A sexy dress (perfect for this date night outfit) that’s going to hug all of your curves but still covers problem areas (if you have them of course.) Be sure to grab a coat or jacket if you’re anywhere near the 60% of the snow covered states. Keep the accessories simple, that way your honey can keep his eyes on your curves. Plus, overdoing it isn’t an option…think less disco ball and more discreet bling.

Now if you night includes dinner and bar hopping with your favorite gal pals, this outfit is for you!

Valentine's Day: Girls Night Out

This outfit choice is where you want to have a little more fun! Try new prints or different fits of your regular club clothes…this way, the jitters of wearing things outside your comfort zone won’t be a problem because you’re with your girls! Pair skinny jeans/leggings with a basic tee and dress it up with the accessories. It’s ok to brighten it up on this night.

There you have it!

Hopefully, these ideas takes away the stress of finding something to wear next weekend. Just focus on having fun!

Holiday Shopping Survival Guide

Welcome to December stylish sweets!

There are officially 23 days left til Christmas, can you believe it?!

If you still have any shopping left to do, then this guide is for you!

Last year, we went over what to buy those special people in your life with the Gift Giving at Any Budget GuideThis year, I’m doing it little differently. The following tips and ideas are perfect for getting you through that quick mall trip that turns into a three-four hour event!

The most important thing: COMFORT! You do not want to wander around the mall for hours in heels, a dress, a skirt, a heavy coat, or even tight jeans for that matter (unless of course they’re stretch!)

The following outfit is great for doing everything you need to do.

Holiday Shopping Survival Guide: 1

A crossbody bag that’s big enough to hold your scarf and gloves but not too big that it gets in your way. Think “hands-free”.

Leggings, yes curvy girls, leggings! Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t wear leggings! These are the best thing to happen to the fashion world since….since….well, you get the idea! Make sure you’re wearing a top long enough so that it covers your butt. That’s very important, especially if you happen to have a pair of leggings that aren’t Lululemon proof.

Next, you want to have bobby pins….no brainer, right?!

Finally, the footwear. You want to be stylish but comfortable not stylish and in pain. A flat biker boot is the way to go.

I know you’re probably thinking…what about a coat?! Here’s the thing about coats…they’re hot, bulky, and cumbersome. If you wear a coat, you’re going to take it off eventually, then you’re stuck carrying it…you don’t want that. I say, try your best to get a close parking spot and make a run for the door! Or there’s always those mall lockers if they’re available at your location, definitely use one of those if a coat is a must!

Now, if you’re going to have a purse during your shopping adventure, make sure it’s a cross body bag. For the obvious reasons like hands free shopping, it’s a great safety measure. No matter what town, city or suburb you live in, thieves are right around the corner and it’s best to protect yourself any way you can.

By wearing a crossbody bag, a would be thief will have a harder time snatching it off your body. It’s also great because carrying a heavier tote or clutch…just isn’t a comfy idea.

Holiday Shopping Survival Guide: 2

So, what is mandatory for your shopping event?

Nothing that’ll weigh your shoulders or the bag down. Just make sure you have the essentials. For me, that includes a travel sized brush, hair ties, lotion & body spray, a long lasting colored lip gloss, a wallet, hand sanitizer, and sunglasses. Those are pretty much everyday items for me, I never ever ever leave home without them. You want to try to look as fresh leaving the mall than when you came in.

I’ve been that chick that leaves the mall looking haggered. I get home and people are asking me if I’m ok, are you feeling alright, do you need water?! You don’t want that. You’re tired, annoyed, hot and bothered and trust me, looking how you feel at that moment is the pits! You walked into the mall to get things done so feeling accomplished is the look you’re going for. A quick moisture spray and foundation touch-up somewhere between Macy’s and the Food Court mid-adventure should do the trick.

At that point, you’re halfway done or heading towards the door.

That means….

Once you’re done…you’re done!

Out and About and An Outfit

Happy Friday stylish sweets!

Hopefully everyone had a great week, if not, the weekend is finally here! Cheers to that!

Last weekend, I was tagging along with a friend while she went shopping. Yes, I Rena Fraz did NOT go shopping last week. Believe it people! While she was trying on shoes and driving, I was randomly taking pics in the mirror or with my feet up on the passenger side with my phone. What else was a chick going to do?! Of course, as forgetful as I am…totally forgot to post the pics on Instagram or Facebook.

In turn, we have this “Outfit of the day” post…enjoy!

Shirt: Lane Bryant ~ Burnout Cold Shoulder (sold out) ~ $40

Jeans: Lane Bryant  ~ Zippered Ankle Skinny Jeans (sold out in Cabaret/pink) ~ $59

Sandals: Ralph Lauren ~ (bought them almost 4 years ago at the RL outlet!) ~ $150

These are very close to the pair I have which are $249 at DSW

Ralph Lauren Collection ~ Viella Leather Flat Sandal

Bag: Coach ~ (also about 3 years old) ~ $498

As this post is coming together, you’re probably wondering, why I chose brown leather accessories….good question LOL! The real answer: you know those days, ladies, when you don’t feel like switching bags? Yea, this was definitely one of those days. Transferring everything to a white bag or summer bag would’ve been way too much that day so I stuck it out with brown. Not too bad.

One thing is definitely certain…my phone takes horrid pictures! I really need to start carrying my camera with me wherever I go. Been dreading that but it must be done!

Enjoy Your Weekend!

What I Wore

Welcome to the weekend!

I’m going to try something new here for this post and it’s totally unlike me (as Curves And Coffee) to feature posts solely about me. I try to provide you guys with the best style, shopping, fun, food, and lifestyle advice to cover your curvy days. Well, that’s what I set out to do when I started blogging again. There are tons of personal fashion blogs with “selfie/ootd (outfit of the day)” posts so my purpose was to focus more on the shopper or everyday curvy girl.

But…

Recently and previously, I’ve had the question “Why don’t you do more posts of you?” thrown at me. After much debate and on a day I was feeling EXCEPTIONALLY cute (because you know you’ve gotta at least FEEL cute to take pics of yourself and post them online for the world to see) I decided to do a “What I Wore” post!

Here’s what I wore…

As you can see, I’m still trying to get the hang of the whole “selfie” “ootd” “mirror pic” thing. Besides that, I loved this outfit and I was very comfy! I’m only 5’3 so even when it comes to “boyfriend cropped jeans” I still have to keep rolling up the bottom lol I missed the tall gene…thanks mom and dad!

Anywho…

The details of each item I wore are below. The only thing not shown is the bag I carried which was a tote by Coach. The charm bracelet is also by Coach but it’s literally almost ten years old and looks brand new! It’s the button tab bracelet with orange, pink, blue, green, and white colored tabs….the closest item sold by Coach today isn’t as colorful but it’s featured below as well.

Minus the bag and Guess watch, everything was under $50! I love style and fashion but please believe I’m a bargain hunter and always trying to get more bang for my buck! The jeans are priced at $45 but with a 30% off code I added to my cart that day, they were way less. The dip-dyed espadrilles…uh hello, Tar-Jay (Target) only $19! Even the Lane Bryant top was a steal! Regularly priced over $30, I used a 50% off code for my entire purchase! Seriously, sign up for emails or follow the store accounts on Twitter/Facebook….that’s how I find the sales! They aren’t hard to spot!

So, what do you think? Are we liking this choice? Should I possibly feature MORE OOTD posts? Am I asking too many questions?

Hope you enjoyed!
