Paris Fashion Week Continues

Well well well… We meet again!  Paris, you really do something to my psyche.  It can’t be explained,  I tried that last week to no avail.  What I do know is this:  Paris always gets me giddy!

Valentin Yudashkin

This was the first runway show for Hedi Slimane and the debut for the new name without the “Y(Yves)”  no one knew what to expect.  There weren’t any ideas running through my head of what the show could look like, I just wanted to see.  Torn.  That’s what I came up with.  Everything is very classic YSL, meaning hippie/bohemian with flowing dresses.  I love that but at the same time, I didn’t expect that LOL!

I’ll let you see and decide for yourself…

(As a reminder….all the designers’ sites can be visited by clicking their name about the photos…just in case you wanted to look around 🙂

Tis all for now!!  Stay tuned for more faves later today!

Enjoy!

Color of the Season: Oxblood!

I had this whole post typed out about how lovely this would be and how great that should be, then I deleted it.  Wanna know why?  Because “oxblood” is just a weird freaking name for a color!!!  Yes, it sounds exotic but it also sounds quite gross!  Nevertheless, “OXBLOOD” is this fall’s color trend.

Get on the train!

Polyvore has contests that you can enter if you create a “set” i.e. an outfit board designed around whatever the group or site comes up with.  I recently entered two sets (which weren’t winners by the way) but I found and fell in love with a certain item of clothing.

This leather skirt from Miu Miu is available on Net-A-Porter for a mere $1,650

Totally worth it!

Of course this cute skirt doesn’t come in curvy sizes and it’s pretty much sold out in regular sizes.  As I always say…this is ONLY a piece of style inspiration. All you need to do is look around.

Here’s the same skirt and one very close to that style that I found from Sonsi.
The plaid skirt is only $38…how do you like those red apples?!
Jeans, jeggings, leggings or whatever you want to call them…I love them!
Levi’s in “winetasting”
$47.99

Here are several outfit ideas via Polyvore
(95% of the items are for our curves)

These are the sets I entered for several Polyvore contests: Camel and Oxblood…first time participating and it was a blast!

Oxblood Good!

Burgundy, wine, red, oxblood, plum…whatever you want to call it, just be sure it’s in your closet somewhere.  If it’s not in your closet…add it to your face…in the form of lips, eyes or jewels!  Yes, I’m forcing you to go out and buy something trendy LOL it’s just a color 😉

If you haven’t heard the news by now, it’s time to leave that dark spot under your rock.  Seriously, we’ve known for quite some time now that T H I S was going to be HUGE this fall!  So, with that said…here’s your morning linkage!

Morning Linkage: Cup 12 (Breast Cancer Awareness)

I’ve been torn with whether or not I want to share a story.  It’s a personal story and it relates to this month.  An emotional time for as long as I can remember…October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Trust me, I’d love to do nothing more than share with you guys/gals but I’m not sure I can handle it emotionally…even now typing this small and short paragraph is proving to be difficult.

Here goes…

My best friend, my grandmother passed away at the age of 72 (three years ago) was first diagnosed with breast cancer when I was only 8.

I did manage to get that sentence without the tears so thank you for bearing with me.

With my other blogs in the past, during October, I devoted making links and posts everyday that had at least ONE thing mentioning Breast Cancer Awareness.  As the month continues on, I will try my best to keep up the positive vibes.

With that said, um, written, wait, typed….ready for your morning linkage?

Paris Fashion Week: Dior Edition

J’adore Dior!

I had a “front row” seat on my laptop to watch the Christian Dior show the other day. That pretty much made my day! The show was excellent, I couldn’t take my eyes away! When that happens, it’s hard for me to even create a post full of my faves because EVERYTHING is a favorite look!  I tried over and over again to create my faves but just couldn’t do it!

This only means ONE thing:  We get to watch the show together!!

National Coffee Day Cocktails

Hide the under 21 kiddos!!!

Coffee and liquor…in the same glass?  Yes, please!

Sure would be nice to have something with a nice spicy and sweet kick.  Perhaps something that has, oh, I don’t know, a special ingredient.  Could that special ingredient be coffee?  Yes!  I did a little bit of digging and found some tasty things for you to try on National Coffee Day!

I instantly thought to myself… “self, you should have a taste-testing night full of cocktails again.”  I didn’t answer myself because that would just be silly but I did agree with that thought LOL! The thought process was simple: exhaustion, sweet tooth & a little stress equaled me searching for delicious yet coffee centered cocktails!

This is a delicious list of coffee cocktails I’ll be trying this weekend and next week and probably the week after that (not all at once of course…make, mix, sip and pass around LOL)

Happy National Coffee Day!

Morning Linkage: Cup 11 (National Coffee Day)

Captains Log:  Today is Saturday, the 29th day of September in year 2012.  It is also known as National Coffee Day.

A sci-fi reference on a beauty/fashion/lifestyle blog about curvy things…that’s gotta NOT be a first!  Maybe a first for Curves and Coffee but it also might be the last.  If I didn’t lose you and you’re still here reading after only four sentences or so…thank you LOL!

Back to the topic of warm roasted coffee beans…

National Coffee Day?  What? I’m obligated to fill my belly with medium and dark roast all the live long day!  This also means I’m tempted to drive around to every coffee place and get whatever free cup they’re offering!  Well, not really seeing as though the price of gasoline is still very close to $4.00 around these northern parts and well, mama likes to shop!

This should also be constituted as Morning Linkage since I’m going to fill you in on a lil Saturday java goodness!

In case you’re wondering, yes, yes I did get hungry and thirsty while typing up this post!  I also want more caffeine so I fought with my better judgement and drank a soda (pop as we say) Believe me, coffee will be had by all in just a few hours!

Google for all things coffee!

Enjoy your Saturday sweets!

Celeb Crossing! Paris Fashion Week

Quietly gracing the pebbled streets…
Fans came from afar…
Viewing the colors both bright and bare…
They can smell Paris Fashion Week in the air!
Clearly, there’s some sort of affinity with Paris, France in my mind.  It makes me all “poetic” for no real reason.  Maybe it’s because I took French in high school and a little in college…that could be it.  Maybe it’s the picture in my childhood bedroom of the Eiffel Tower.  Hmm, all I know is Paris is the penultimate place of the fashion month that is September.
There were lots and lots of famous fashion fans to view the model walk in Paris.
Perhaps I’m not alone in that “weak-in-the-knees” feeling.
I’m sure these celebs enjoyed the show…Kanye West / Leelee Sobieski
