Shopping For A Cause

During the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month <—why it’s important to me) many stores, brands and companies are offering products in “Pink”!!  How exciting is that?!  If you purchase these “Pink” products, that brand will donate a portion (in some cases, all) of the proceeds to a breast cancer charity or research fund.  It doesn’t get any better than that!  You get to shop your little shopaholic heart out AND give to a great cause!

In case you need a little incentive to shop this weekend…

Since I am a football fanatic…

iPhone Case-proceeds to BCA

Giving a percentage of “pink purchases” to charity

Hope in a jar

As many know, my Grandmother passed away from breast cancer three years ago… I would do anything to help the cause of finding a cure!  If it even helps just blogging about what items to buy or even just wearing a pink ribbon, I’ll do it.  No matter how big or how small, just know you can help.

And don’t forget….

CHECK THOSE BOOBIES!!!

Drops of Color: Denim Shopping Haul

As you know, colored jeans are SO IN right now!  I’ve blogged about it H E R E and H E R E and H E R E …yes, they’re what’s hot in the streets.  Even I’m in on the trend!  Totally splurged (ie not really, I looked for sales, deals and discounts) bought me several pair of jeans from the ROYGBIV color spectrum.

Here’s my shopping loot:
In the top photo:
Grey
Royal Blue
Green
Dark Denim
(same colors in the lower photo just spread and not folded)
Purchased each pair (except for the dark denim) from OldNavy.com of all places for only $22 (each)+15% off…WOWZERS and a BOOM!  They’re stretchy jegging type of jeans “Rock star Denim” as the lovely marketing people at ON labeled them.  They fit extremely well on me… I’m 5’3 and I’m not gonna tell you my size lol but I won’t need to get these hemmed, BONUS!  It also helps that it’s totally ok to roll your jeans a tad with boots and booties 😉  The dark denim jeans are from Nordstrom by Lucky Brand…now, these I did splurge on ($99 to be exact) but it’s worth spending the money on a classic pair of jeans that will become the staple in your wardrobe during ANY season.  That’s a shopping tip and rule of thumb for any fashionista or burgeoning shopaholic lol.
Now, let’s explore how we’re gonna wear these colorful jeans!  You’re gonna need a shirt of sorts to go with all those dangerous curves!

How would you wear your colored jeans?

Curvy Costumes: A Plus Size Halloween

October has another thing going for it… Halloween

I haven’t really participated in Halloween since I worked at a daycare center during undergrad!  Dressing up and having fun with little kiddos in their cute costumes…fun times.  The most I’ve done recently was pass out candy with cat ears on.  I kinda want to dress up this year and maybe go out to party…maybe.  It’s fun being a kid again and Halloween is the perfect time for that unless you’re the Scrooge of pumpkins or something.

I know being curvy has been quite the problem for some ladies when looking for a costume but luckily for us…times have changed!  Plenty of brands, stores and sites offer “plus-size” options for Halloween costumes and guess what?  They aren’t frumpy, dumpy costumes either!!

Saving you a tiny bit of trouble (if you’re going out to have fun this Halloween) I’ve compiled a few sites and stores that have some great costume options!

CLICK THE STORE ABOVE EACH PIC TO TRAVEL TO THE SITE

All the sites above also feature non-sexy costumes (except for maybe FOH) in case you don’t want to have certain areas exposed.  Just be sure to order now so you can have your costume by October 31st!

Gotta have fun some time in life…otherwise things get too serious and before you know it…it’s passed you by.  So go ahead and dress up like a sexy dinosaur or a cop without any real clothes on lol it’s ok, it’s Halloween!

Recipes For Everything!

Pinterest is the exact place to be if you’re looking for something.  It seriously might be better than Google!  Well, that may just be my opinion.

I will give you this warning…

Don’t wander the streets of Pinterest if you’re hungry, haven’t eaten, have a sweet tooth, are on a diet, or just plain want something flavorful for your taste buds.  For reals you guys/gals.  Just don’t do it!

In fact, this whole post is about Pinterest finds….you might wanna go eat, like RIGHT NOW!

Last but not least…just in time for October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to put my baking apron on and drive to the market for every last ingredient!

Slow Weekend

I’ve been trying to make posts but it’s just not working.
I’m completely under the weather.
An emergency room visit, drugs, sleep and four days later…
Still in pain.
Sitting up or laying down for long periods of time is just not happening.
Just wanted to update you guys/gals…haven’t forgot about you 🙂

xoxo

BEWITCHING isn’t it?!
Maybe not really but that’s the title of this month’s
Julep Maven Box
I did shell out the extra moolah to upgrade my usual monthly haul to get the ENTIRE set!
As a “BOMBSHELL” I loved the colors for this month but I also loved the colors from the other styles like: IT GIRL and BOHEMIAN
Basically, I couldn’t decide and what do you do when you can’t decide?

I was EXTREMELY excited to get this and hated that I had to wait all the way until
October 1st to get it!
TA-DA!
Do you see what I see?
If you said “Candy Corn” then we can be friends!
I am absolutely having a love affair with sugar…not in a bad way.
Candy is rarely bought unless I’m absolutely craving a certain kind.
But, I do love the sweets.
There should be a rehab for just people who love sweets…
Hmmm maybe I should get on that.
Ready for what’s INSIDE the box?!
