Wednesday Wants: The Moto Jacket

plus size biker jacket

It may not feel like it outside but the calendar says March.

March is usually the month when the weather starts to change for the better (at least when it stops snowing.)

I also celebrate my birthday in March (March 4th to be exact so Happy Birthday to me!) and being able to wear a cute light jacket would be a great birthday gift!

But, until I can ditch the heavy winter parka, double wrapped scarves, gloves, and of course the snow boots, I can only fill my closet.

So, what’s on my shopping list this spring…whenever it gets here? Cute moto & biker jackets of course!

Totally on trend and just like the perfect bag: it goes with EVERYTHING! Of course I’ve already did the shopping for you. Check out these cute plus size moto biker jackets.

Dress Shopping: Maxi Dress Styled

Maxi dresses are always a go-to wardrobe staple. For obvious reasons…they’re comfortable, they don’t cling to places you don’t want them to and when they’re loose…they hide any imperfection. So who wouldn’t want the easy style of a maxi dress?!

I’m always on the hunt for plus size fashion places to shop and share with you guys but this time, the fashion came to me! Plus size maxi dresses are usually frumpy and not styled to fit curves, this isn’t true with this one.

This is the Alyssa Kimono V-Neck Maxi Dress in Navy Blue.  You can find this dress and many others in tons of colors at GCGme.com. The kimono sleeves are what sold me on this particular style…usually, I hide my arms but with this dress, they’re perfectly graced by the cut and fabric. No need to add a shrug or jacket.

The pics don’t do this dress justice! It’s a gorgeous blue and flows the way a dress should.

I think I’ve found the perfect dress for one of my spring vacations! Of course, it’s too cold here in Michigan to flaunt about in the elements but I just couldn’t wait to try it on! Also, super fast shipping from this company, I’ll be sure to keep them in mind for future shopping endeavors. Well, that’s one outfit down and about 10 more to go to make sure I over-pack successfully!

This dress was given to me for my honest opinion which is my own.

Curves Down the Runway at New York Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2017

So, it’s fashion season (yep, that’s sarcasm).

I’m usually so excited when September or February rolls around and not just because it’s a new weather season. It sparks a time during the year that fashion designers and fashion royalty hit the streets of NYC, Milan, Paris and London to show off their best. This year just seems different. Not sure if it’s because the more I write about fashion, the more frustrated I become with the lack of curviness in these streets (runways) or if fashion just feels stagnant.

Probably a bit of both.

So when I started seeing runway shows and pics fall through my inbox and Twitter timeline, I shuttered. Then I got glimpse of something special. My eyes popped and a huge smile came across my face because several designers have forgone “tradition” and actually added some curves to strut down the runways of New York City!

Fashion designers Christian Siriano, Becca McCharen for Chromat, and my personal hometown of Detroit favorite Tracy Reese (just to name a few) have all ditched stereotypes to showcase the curves of real women.

In the next few series of post, you’ll find a few of my faves!

End of Summer Style

Summer is just about over!  For those in between days when it’s not quite cool enough for a sweater and you still want to look cute, what to do? Or if you’re like me, you want to get at least one more wear out of that perfect summer maxi dress…

0park2Simply pair a denim jacket and sandals with your maxi dress and you’re all set to go for a Sunday stroll in the park!

Dress: Perfectly Priscilla

Shoes: Pour La Victoire

Jacket: Old Navy

Phone Case: Kate Spade

plus size maxi dressOf course I took my furry baby beagle Chipper (who’s now 5 and loves to pull me) for a walk through the park! Dubbed “Great Expectations Maxi Dress by Perfectly Priscilla” is spot on! Needless to say this dress meets and exceeds my expectations! It is both cute and functional, isn’t heavy so it doesn’t weigh me down. It isn’t too thin, so no one will be able see through the fabric! I am absolutely in love with this dress! It’s the perfect length even for my short 5’3″ frame without any alterations.

Speaking of the fabric…the print! Oh my gosh, the print!

Perfectly priscilla maxi dress

It has a very Moroccan motif that I’m absolutely in love with! The material is perfect for summer or an almost fall day. Bonus: the upper part of the strapless dress is lined!

Must say, I’m pretty excited about fall weather coming. For me, there’s nothing better than a pair of jeans and a sweater when the air is crisp. Can’t wait to see what Perfectly Priscilla has in store for the fall and winter! I’ll definitely grab a couple of stylish things.

Time for Fall Fashion

The season is finally changing!

Thank goodness because I couldn’t wait to pull out my fall jackets, jeans, and boots! It’s rare that I need to go shopping for something new which is why I always buy and keep classic wardrobe staples in my closet.

BUTTTT

That doesn’t mean I’m not spying the seasons new trends to add to my collection!

Staying on trend is key to keeping your style– your look– and your closet on point. Plus size fall fashion has come a very long way from the days of over-sized plain black tops and mom jeans. 2015 is no different in the fashion diversity department.

Here are a few of my favorite 2015 fall fashion items:

Classic Style: Plus Size Outfit Ideas

Remember the basics?

The classics?

It’s so easy to forget these days with new trends popping up every other week. Yes, some trends are dope and fun to wear but sometimes, you just want to wrap yourself in a regular pair of boyfriend jeans and a tee!

Recently, I was selected by La Redoute (a fashion store based in the UK) to participate in a competition for fashion bloggers. This competition gives a special blogger a chance to become La Redoutes’ Brand Ambassador and win a trip to Paris! If you’ve been reading along here, you know that I absolutely LOVE Paris!

Needless to say, I hopped on this opportunity! The competition was to simple create a post to display MY personal Style Secrets. This is what this post is about…the classics. My absolute fave classic pieces are just that, jeans and crisp white top.

This look can be worn dressed up or dressed down, on the weekends or even running errands during the week.  I gave you guys two different ways to wear one outfit and you’ll look great in either one!

Friday Faves: Spring Worthy Plus Size Clothing Trends

Has winter left you feeling blue or blah?

The bulky coats….

The heavy layers….

Blah.

Nothing better than shopping or “eye-buying” to get you out of that funk!

Spring shopping can be such a task for a northern girl. When you wake up to 70 degrees and fall asleep to 25 degrees…it’s not much you can buy and/or wear to prepare for such extremes. This doesn’t stop a girl from craving all things pretty though! Actually, it makes me want to hit the stores more.

My trip through the “eye-buying” mall included stops at DSWSaks, and One Stop Plus to name a few. All have awesome deals on lust-worthy spring styles and you absolutely can’t pass up a deal! Of course my adoration for McQueen wouldn’t let me have a shopping trip without him! Here are a few things that I can’t wait to purchase and style when the weather finally (officially) breaks.

Can you tell?

Lace is the perfect way to say “hey, I’m a girl and like to be pretty” without really having to say anything. There’s more feminine trends and wishful buys coming soon….hopefully a few of these things make their way into my closet!

Spring Ahead: Plus Size Fashion & Radiant Orchid

(Ahhhhhhhh)

That’s a collective sigh of relief knowing spring is right around the corner! Even though it doesn’t feel like spring in most of the states, we can still see what the season has to offer our closets!

Earlier this year, Pantone (“the world-renowned authority on color”) introduced us to Radiant Orchid, the 2014 color of the year.

Naturally, it’s bright and vibrant just in time for the weather to take a glorious turn! So, how can we incorporate this juicy color into our wardrobes now (and later?)

Let’s start with items you can easily add to update your outfits now:

Wear It Now: Pantone Color of the Year

Here are a few things for later:

As the season continues (or gets started) there will be lots more to choose from. So now that we have a few options, are you willing to add Radiant Orchid to your wardrobe?
