Drops of Color: Denim Shopping Haul

As you know, colored jeans are SO IN right now!  I’ve blogged about it H E R E and H E R E and H E R E …yes, they’re what’s hot in the streets.  Even I’m in on the trend!  Totally splurged (ie not really, I looked for sales, deals and discounts) bought me several pair of jeans from the ROYGBIV color spectrum.

Here’s my shopping loot:
In the top photo:
Grey
Royal Blue
Green
Dark Denim
(same colors in the lower photo just spread and not folded)
Purchased each pair (except for the dark denim) from OldNavy.com of all places for only $22 (each)+15% off…WOWZERS and a BOOM!  They’re stretchy jegging type of jeans “Rock star Denim” as the lovely marketing people at ON labeled them.  They fit extremely well on me… I’m 5’3 and I’m not gonna tell you my size lol but I won’t need to get these hemmed, BONUS!  It also helps that it’s totally ok to roll your jeans a tad with boots and booties 😉  The dark denim jeans are from Nordstrom by Lucky Brand…now, these I did splurge on ($99 to be exact) but it’s worth spending the money on a classic pair of jeans that will become the staple in your wardrobe during ANY season.  That’s a shopping tip and rule of thumb for any fashionista or burgeoning shopaholic lol.
Now, let’s explore how we’re gonna wear these colorful jeans!  You’re gonna need a shirt of sorts to go with all those dangerous curves!

Curvy Costumes: A Plus Size Halloween

October has another thing going for it… Halloween

I haven’t really participated in Halloween since I worked at a daycare center during undergrad!  Dressing up and having fun with little kiddos in their cute costumes…fun times.  The most I’ve done recently was pass out candy with cat ears on.  I kinda want to dress up this year and maybe go out to party…maybe.  It’s fun being a kid again and Halloween is the perfect time for that unless you’re the Scrooge of pumpkins or something.

I know being curvy has been quite the problem for some ladies when looking for a costume but luckily for us…times have changed!  Plenty of brands, stores and sites offer “plus-size” options for Halloween costumes and guess what?  They aren’t frumpy, dumpy costumes either!!

Saving you a tiny bit of trouble (if you’re going out to have fun this Halloween) I’ve compiled a few sites and stores that have some great costume options!

CLICK THE STORE ABOVE EACH PIC TO TRAVEL TO THE SITE

All the sites above also feature non-sexy costumes (except for maybe FOH) in case you don’t want to have certain areas exposed.  Just be sure to order now so you can have your costume by October 31st!

Gotta have fun some time in life…otherwise things get too serious and before you know it…it’s passed you by.  So go ahead and dress up like a sexy dinosaur or a cop without any real clothes on lol it’s ok, it’s Halloween!

Paris Fashion Week Continues

Well well well… We meet again!  Paris, you really do something to my psyche.  It can’t be explained,  I tried that last week to no avail.  What I do know is this:  Paris always gets me giddy!

Valentin Yudashkin

This was the first runway show for Hedi Slimane and the debut for the new name without the “Y(Yves)”  no one knew what to expect.  There weren’t any ideas running through my head of what the show could look like, I just wanted to see.  Torn.  That’s what I came up with.  Everything is very classic YSL, meaning hippie/bohemian with flowing dresses.  I love that but at the same time, I didn’t expect that LOL!

I’ll let you see and decide for yourself…

(As a reminder….all the designers’ sites can be visited by clicking their name about the photos…just in case you wanted to look around 🙂

Tis all for now!!  Stay tuned for more faves later today!

Enjoy!

Color of the Season: Oxblood!

I had this whole post typed out about how lovely this would be and how great that should be, then I deleted it.  Wanna know why?  Because “oxblood” is just a weird freaking name for a color!!!  Yes, it sounds exotic but it also sounds quite gross!  Nevertheless, “OXBLOOD” is this fall’s color trend.

Get on the train!

Polyvore has contests that you can enter if you create a “set” i.e. an outfit board designed around whatever the group or site comes up with.  I recently entered two sets (which weren’t winners by the way) but I found and fell in love with a certain item of clothing.

This leather skirt from Miu Miu is available on Net-A-Porter for a mere $1,650

Totally worth it!

Of course this cute skirt doesn’t come in curvy sizes and it’s pretty much sold out in regular sizes.  As I always say…this is ONLY a piece of style inspiration. All you need to do is look around.

Here’s the same skirt and one very close to that style that I found from Sonsi.
The plaid skirt is only $38…how do you like those red apples?!
Jeans, jeggings, leggings or whatever you want to call them…I love them!
Levi’s in “winetasting”
$47.99

Here are several outfit ideas via Polyvore
(95% of the items are for our curves)

These are the sets I entered for several Polyvore contests: Camel and Oxblood…first time participating and it was a blast!

Oxblood Good!

Burgundy, wine, red, oxblood, plum…whatever you want to call it, just be sure it’s in your closet somewhere.  If it’s not in your closet…add it to your face…in the form of lips, eyes or jewels!  Yes, I’m forcing you to go out and buy something trendy LOL it’s just a color 😉

Paris Fashion Week: Dior Edition

J’adore Dior!

I had a “front row” seat on my laptop to watch the Christian Dior show the other day. That pretty much made my day! The show was excellent, I couldn’t take my eyes away! When that happens, it’s hard for me to even create a post full of my faves because EVERYTHING is a favorite look!  I tried over and over again to create my faves but just couldn’t do it!

This only means ONE thing:  We get to watch the show together!!

Celeb Crossing! Paris Fashion Week

Quietly gracing the pebbled streets…
Fans came from afar…
Viewing the colors both bright and bare…
They can smell Paris Fashion Week in the air!
Clearly, there’s some sort of affinity with Paris, France in my mind.  It makes me all “poetic” for no real reason.  Maybe it’s because I took French in high school and a little in college…that could be it.  Maybe it’s the picture in my childhood bedroom of the Eiffel Tower.  Hmm, all I know is Paris is the penultimate place of the fashion month that is September.
There were lots and lots of famous fashion fans to view the model walk in Paris.
Perhaps I’m not alone in that “weak-in-the-knees” feeling.
I’m sure these celebs enjoyed the show…Kanye West / Leelee Sobieski
