Fall Trends 2013 (Pt.2): Splurge Worthy

Welcome to part two of the “Splurge Worthy Fall Fashion Trends of 2013.”

No need to get discouraged stylish sweets, the savvy saving fashionista in all of us will be revived for next week series. For now, it’s time to let our eyes glisten with price tag envy!

1992 called and they told us to come get EVERYTHING!

Yes! The 90’s are back like they never left so if you grew up wearing tartan flannel shirts, chunky heels and loose clothes to school almost everyday (like me), this fall trend is for YOU! Even if you didn’t go through the tomboy phase…there is no time like the present.

Where to buy: clockwise

$54 ~ Studded Plaid Shirt (black & white/red) ~ Pretty Rebel

$208 ~ Wren Moto Jacket ~ Mynt1792

$119 ~ Silk Tartan Tank ~ Ralph Lauren

I’ve gotta be honest here…I never really stopped wearing plaid or army fatigue. Not all out Bob Vila but I’ve bought at least one plaid shirt or dug out one of my exes old shirts for lounging around. This may just be a blessing in disguise! Kudos to me for not ever completely growing out of the 90’s!

There is a new trend for 2013…a more feminine grunge; ruffles on camo, studs on plaid…you name it, it’s out there!

Where to buy: clockwise

$90 ~ Embellished Camo Jacket ~ Lane Bryant

$254 ~ Uniform Jacket ~ Navabi

$81 ~ Parka Jacket ~ ASOS Curve

Fall Trends 2013 (Pt.1): Splurge Worthy

Fall ready looks with high price tags!

Don’t worry, we’re just looking…

These are some of my favorite designers and crazy good looks for the fall season of 2013. Totally worth $plurging on (if you have it, of course.) Let’s start off this series with something we ALL need in our closets…….

Whether you like “cool and muted,” “dark and deep” or “vibrant and bright” colors, this is the season to try them all.   Jumping right into the deep end, I chose purple. Of course purple is a sign of royalty so that helps boost the confidence level a tad. Also on trend…matching your colors. I’m beyond excited for this! It’s like the old rules of fashion, match your bag with your shoes and belt!

Where To Buy: (clockwise from left)

$395 ~ Animal Print Satchel ~  Longchamp

$725 ~ Stiletto Heels ~  Gucci

$385 ~ Suede Pumps ~ Chie Mihara

$194 ~ Swirled cardigan ~ Nic + Zoe

$78 ~ Merino wool sweater ~ Halogen

$88 ~ Pleated blouse ~ BB Dakota

If you’re not one for dark shades or not ready for fall tones just yet, try the muted pastels; dusty rose and pale pink are definitely a do for fall. Speaking of muted colors…these colors seem to be far from it! They may not be as bold or bright but they’re definitely just as pretty and chic.

Where to buy: clockwise from left

$845 ~ Rockstud Caged Ballerina ~ Valentino

$898 ~ Legacy Embossed ~ Coach

$695 ~ Ballerina Flat ~ Valentino

$1590~ Leather & bows  ~ Miu Miu

$78 ~ Embellished Sweatshirt ~ Gibson

$200 Silk Top ~ Baum Und Pferdgarten

$99 ~ Mersa Top ~ Baum Und Pferdgarten

$137 ~ Kiss Top ~ Baum Und Pferdgarten

(The three Baum Und Pferdgarten tops are all from Saint Bustier, a shopping site that features clothing for bustier women.)

And you absolutely CANNOT go wrong with black or white! Better yet, how about black AND white! Check out these monochrome accessories!

Where to buy: (left to right)

$795 ~ Ankle-tie pumps ~  Giorgio Armani

$1295~ Top-handle satchel ~  Michael Kors

No matter what you choose, there is no wrong answer, so feel free to experiment with your wardrobe! That’s all for now folks but be sure to check back here for the rest of the fall fashion series! You don’t wanna miss more bank busting styles and the penny saving looks to follow!

Lustful Looks

Hey there stylish sweets! Welcome to another mid-week in August, we won’t be able to say that pretty soon! As September approaches, the weather cools down, trees lose their leaves, and we start reaching for layers. For fall, I’ll continue to do shopping posts which feature items that are affordable and those that are, um, shall we say…not too affordable for us everyday chicks! Also, drum roll please… New York Fashion Week is coming up in September as well. Definitely excited for that but between those runway posts, I’m thinking of doing an everyday post just for the month of September. Currently trying to decide between “30 Days, 30 Heels” or just “30 Days, 30 Shoes”…what do you guys think?

Anywho, now that I have you all caught up…let’s look at a few things I’m lusting over right now! Some of these are far out of my reach but that won’t stop me from drooling over them from time to time. See what’s on my mind and what needs to be in my closet, after the jump! (click “read more” below)

Ok, so you see the price tags…I’ll just enjoy lusting from a distance this time around. Although, every single piece would look very good in my wardrobe! ‘Twas fun dreaming, don’t you think?! What’s something you’re drooling over this month?

Prints are Hot for Summer

We’re definitely deep into summer now guys! It’ll be fall before we know it! So before we have to dig out the heavy artillery aka boots and other winter attire, let’s see what’s trending. During the spring, I created several fashion boards for the trends then. Now that we’re in the warmer months, take a look below at the Polyvore board and the details after.

Plus Size Fashion Trends

Yes, PRINTED PANTS!

Ladies, don’t be afraid of prints…let your curves shine in skinny jeans. I’m in love with every single pair of pants in this post! Favorite thing about these styles, they’re versatile for the summer season and beyond. Cropped pants lend themselves to the warmer months but can also be worn in the fall and winter by pairing them with tall boots. Plus, they’re cropped so your legs get air when it’s blazing hot outside.

*Key thing to remember about summer wardrobe items: the material is thinner.

HAPPY SHOPPING!

Friday Fashion Faves: Designer Edition

It’s the weekend, time to to get your sleep in! That is literally ALL I want to do…sleep! We all know that’s not going to happen. Stopping by the post office to ship the fabulous Julep Maven prize, Iron Man 3 and shopping is on my agenda for the weekend. Not to shabby if I do say so myself. Speaking of shopping, I’ve been eyeing a certain pair of Kors sneakers lately.

THIS pair of Michael Kors sneakers to be exact. Priced at $195 on MichaelKors

It’s rare that I’ll get shoes from anywhere other than DSW because they have ev-e-ry-thing and it’s priced way way below suggested retail pricing. But this pair of sneaks need to be in my closet as soon as possible…they’ll go with practically anything and last through the seasons. While I was surfing the MK site, I noticed tons of other things and you know he does curvy sizes too!

Here are all of my current favorites from Michael Kors…ENJOY!

(remember to find more info on the items below…simply click the pic)

Well, that was fun. That won’t help my shopping addiction AT ALL.

Chicks Dig The Long Ball

This chick digs it!

It’s no secret around here that I’m a girl who loves her sports. Being a sports fan has its ups and downs but of course when you love your team, you stand by your team. You go to the games, watch them on TV and cheer them on…even go into your home teams stadium and cheer for the opposing team (in my case.) This happens every sports season and baseball season is no different. You can hear me screaming and yelling at the TV or a streaming internet connection. Yep, I’m *that* girl.

So when I heard my favorite MLB team the Atlanta Braves were coming to Detroit to play the Tigers, I couldn’t wait to get tickets! Of course, once the tickets went on sale there were snatched up pretty quickly. Not a problem when  StubHub exists, thank you StubHub! Now my only problem is, what does a girl wear to a baseball game in Michigan during an extended winter in April.

Take Me Out

Ahhh, I happened to work my fashion magic! The game will start off with the sun shining but it will quickly do a 180 and turn chilly as the night time air rolls into the downtown part of the city. As the weather will change from sunny to semi-cold, I went with a warm quilted sweater jacket. The team tee paired with skinny jeans is ALWAYS a hit no matter what you’re doing (plus I want to be comfortable sitting for 3-4 hours outside.) Add some comfy and stylish Nike Jordan kicks and a crossbody (hands-free) bag and VOILA!

I am ready for some baseball!!

Spring Fling

It’s finally starting to feel like spring around here, can I get a big WOOHOO?! I don’t know about you guys but I’m tired of the layers! Just waiting on that moment when we can walk outside with a cute cardigan and sunglasses. I’ll still grab a scarf mother nature but the hat, gloves, tank, and under clothes won’t be coming with me. This brief fling with spring has me in the mood to shop and of course I have to share with my stylish sweets what’s on trend.

Spring Fling

Spring Fling by curvesandcoffee featuring a plus size denim jacket

How cute are these denim jackets?! Perfect for spring and summer in case there’s a chill in the air. What’s even more chic….colored denim is IN so that means vibrant jackets are given the green light for the season. No matter your size or color preference, it’s sure to be in the stores and making its’ way into your closet. All of the denim jackets above are pretty decently priced. I already have a jacket like the second jacket on the first row…just the average distressed denim but I am definitely loving on the “old school” bleached jacket and the orange one! Ok, I need more money lol!

Fast and Fashionable: NAIAS 2013

naias audi

Welcome to the weekend stylish sweets!

I’m going to need a few e-cuddles this weekend.

For an entire week my mind was freaking insane! My laptop crashed and it kept crashing (hence why this post is a few days later than I expected) it took a little over a full day to get it fixed by yours truly. Good to know I can remember how to get myself out of a random tech jam. Before I could even finish this sentence, it crashed again *sigh* Just hope this doesn’t mean I’ll be in the market for a new laptop soon…fingers crossed. Besides that glitch in the matrix (literally) I got a chance to take in the sights of the auto show.

Thanks to WXYZ Detroit (Channel 7) and the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) I was able to attend an Industry Preview before the doors opened to the public. Can you imagine? A sneak peek at all the cars and exhibits while everything is fresh and new OH and still intact! This was perfect timing for me to break out my Christmas gift, test drive it and snap some amazing shots! Ok, LOTS of amazing shots! You can see all the snap happy pics I took right on my Facebook page that you already liked, you did like it already, right?! Curves And Coffee on Facebook

With all the photos of shiny new cars, I decided to try a fashion experiment  All is fair in love, cars and fashion! The pics came out so well that the true colors of the cars popped out at you immediately. That of course, only meant one thing, focus in on the great styles that would match the vehicles. Take a stroll through NAIAS with a fashion and style obsessed curvy shopaholic.

London’s Calling! Patriotic Plus Size Olympic Style

It’s summer and it’s 2012 and that means, the Olympics are here!

After being in action for a full week now, I can say with confidence…I’ll never be an Olympian! LOL! Have you see these chicks arms?! Goodness!

Anywho…

Watching the Olympics has given me a little bit of USA fever! I woke up this morning looking for anything red, white or blue to show my love for this country.

(Insert me belting out Star Spangled Banner in the middle of my apartment)

So after looking in my closet and realizing I don’t have that many American flag colored items, I wondered if anyone else had this issue.  That led me to a quick search. Here are a few things that you can wear to show your support without wearing a flag outside.  Who really wants to wear a flag as an outfit?  More power to you if that’s what you chose to wear today (if you’re actually a spectator in London!)

If you’re chilling here in the states like moi, watching previously recorded programming via NBC…here’s what we can wear:

Colored jeans! They’re EVERYWHERE! I mean EVERYWHERE! They look good on any body type too so don’t be afraid to wear a pair! For us curvy girls…find these at Saks!

For your eyes…anything with a cat-eye shape is definitely “in” right now.  A cheap and uber chic way to add any color to your outfit…sunglasses!

For your feet…how about a super cute pair of Superga’s!! Classic style that can be worn even when you’re not feeling festive!
