Tadashi Shoji: New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019

From lush velvet to shiny sequins, this parade of formal frocks had it all…including a few rompers/jumpsuits! Even I’d LOVE to wear these!

Here are just a few of my faves from one of my faves from the always inclusive Tadashi Shoji.

Featuring plus size models in dresses perfectly made to hug curves just right…

All the looks from this show looked soft yet so powerful and regal…just what you want in evening wear or a party dress. Tadashi Shoji continues to amaze.

Curves Down the Runway at New York Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2017

So, it’s fashion season (yep, that’s sarcasm).

I’m usually so excited when September or February rolls around and not just because it’s a new weather season. It sparks a time during the year that fashion designers and fashion royalty hit the streets of NYC, Milan, Paris and London to show off their best. This year just seems different. Not sure if it’s because the more I write about fashion, the more frustrated I become with the lack of curviness in these streets (runways) or if fashion just feels stagnant.

Probably a bit of both.

So when I started seeing runway shows and pics fall through my inbox and Twitter timeline, I shuttered. Then I got glimpse of something special. My eyes popped and a huge smile came across my face because several designers have forgone “tradition” and actually added some curves to strut down the runways of New York City!

Fashion designers Christian Siriano, Becca McCharen for Chromat, and my personal hometown of Detroit favorite Tracy Reese (just to name a few) have all ditched stereotypes to showcase the curves of real women.

In the next few series of post, you’ll find a few of my faves!

New York Fashion Week: Tracy Reese Spring Summer 2017

Not to be outdone, designer Tracy Reese incorporated real women and models into her spring/summer ready to wear line last week as well. I can’t call it a runway show but it was definitely a show! Reese, had her show in a garden along a block in NYC. Beautiful backdrop for feminine floral and lace details.

New York Fashion Week: Chromat Spring Summer 2017

Chromat always shows other designers how to include everyone in a runway show and I do mean everyone! Diversity isn’t diverse enough until you’ve seen the shows that Becca McCharen puts together year after year. By the way, Chromat has some MAJOR celebs that love the brand too *cough* Beyoncé *cough cough* Nicki Minaj and I can see why!
