I know it’s been a looong minute since I’ve posted/updated Curves And Coffee but I’ll get into that another day 😉 (if you follow me, you’re already up to date!)
Since there’s A LOT going on all around the world and it’s weighing heavily on everyone, I hope you guys are taking care of yourselves physically AND mentally.
For me, one of my self care items is listening to music. Sometimes just being able to vibe out, listen to sweet sounds of R&B or getting up and dancing around the house to Pop or rapping along to some old school Hip Hop is all I need to sweep me away, calming my nerves in the process.
Let me stop rambling…
Here’s Kelly Rowland showing us the many beautiful shades of COFFEE
I wish this song was longer!
Lots of good music has been blessing my ears over these months of lockdown and I couldn’t be happier about that! This song and video has been out a couple months and I meant to drop it here sooner but better late than never!
So now that I’ve showed you mine, what are some of your favorite lockdown-nerve calming-self-care tips?
We’re tuning in on Thursday instead of Tuesday today folks! I’m ready to bring in the weekend already!
But first, here’s a quick story…
As a kid from Detroit, I had LOTS of fun out and about at several places with friends. One of those places were Boblo Island, an amusement park (on a literal island) just down the Detroit River. Soooo many fond memories of riding on a river steamboat with family and friends to go have a crazy fun filled day at the park.
See, the park wasn’t the ONLY fun part of the trip; you partied on your way there and definitely danced the night away on the way back. Maybe even snuck a kiss with the boy you were flirting with all day while the warm night breeze graced your skin.
Anywho, I mentioned that because today’s tune-in song is called “Boblo Boat” by Detroit rapper Royce da 5’9″ featuring J. Cole. The title alone brought back memories for me and I’m so glad he made a video for it! Directed by the KOD rapper himself, J. Cole.
The visuals of the video are great…not what I was expecting but still nice. Theme parks at night are always cool with the lights…made me feel like a kid again which is what the video is about. Being young and out having fun with friends and maybe getting into a little trouble but all worth it in the end.
So, what did you think?? Feeling the song? The video?
Recently, I was channel surfing (yes, still at home recovering but we’ll get into that another day.) Came across one of the music video channels (you know…the channels with three digits like 140+) well, those channels actually STILL play videos believe it or not!
There was a nice R&B song playing so I decided to pay closer attention and noticed this beautiful girl with gorgeous brown skin. It’s SO sexy which makes it easy for me to fall in love with.
See the sexy new official video for yourself…
Meelah ft. Musiq Soulchild – “Give It To You”
She looks very familiar.
It didn’t immediately ring a bell but suddenly it popped in my head…
THAT’S THE GIRL FROM 702!
702 was a girl group back in the day from Las Vegas, hence the 7-0-2 Vegas’ area code. We (friends & other fans) were total fan girls back in the late 90’s to early 2000’s! They were totally underrated FYI.
After doing some searching, I found out tons of stuff that I never knew like, she’s been dating Musiq Soulchild for years and they now have a child together via this short article from HipHopWired.

How amazing is that?! Granted, it was five years ago but still, awesome! (This is what happens when you don’t keep up with celebrity gossip…lol forever behind.) Maybe one day that urge to stalk a celeb a la TMZ will bubble up in my soul but until then, finding out who did what will just have to wait. I trust you guys won’t let me get too far behind 🙂
Looks like Chris Breezy hopped out of the slammer and went straight to work! His new video for “New Flame” was released earlier this week, which features Usher. Anything with Usher is automatic hit for me so here you go…check out
Did I just use “slammer” in a sentence? I clearly need more coffee this morning.
You ever hear a song that you swear speaks to you and what’s going on in your life at that moment? I’m starting to think Ms. Marsha Ambrosius is spying on me and writing songs about what she sees, just kidding! As one of my favorite artists from the UK, her music seems to tell a story that’s very easy to relate to.
Her new single “Without You” featuring Ne-Yo now has a video to go along with it. The video is a little deep as most of her videos are but the song still sounds incredible! Have a look…
Speaking of our great fashionable friends across the pond, (UK United Kingdom), stay tuned for a special guest post from a fashion expert with great advice for us curvy girls! I’m excited to see what’s in store!!
