What I Wore

Welcome to the weekend!

I’m going to try something new here for this post and it’s totally unlike me (as Curves And Coffee) to feature posts solely about me. I try to provide you guys with the best style, shopping, fun, food, and lifestyle advice to cover your curvy days. Well, that’s what I set out to do when I started blogging again. There are tons of personal fashion blogs with “selfie/ootd (outfit of the day)” posts so my purpose was to focus more on the shopper or everyday curvy girl.

But…

Recently and previously, I’ve had the question “Why don’t you do more posts of you?” thrown at me. After much debate and on a day I was feeling EXCEPTIONALLY cute (because you know you’ve gotta at least FEEL cute to take pics of yourself and post them online for the world to see) I decided to do a “What I Wore” post!

Here’s what I wore…

As you can see, I’m still trying to get the hang of the whole “selfie” “ootd” “mirror pic” thing. Besides that, I loved this outfit and I was very comfy! I’m only 5’3 so even when it comes to “boyfriend cropped jeans” I still have to keep rolling up the bottom lol I missed the tall gene…thanks mom and dad!

Anywho…

The details of each item I wore are below. The only thing not shown is the bag I carried which was a tote by Coach. The charm bracelet is also by Coach but it’s literally almost ten years old and looks brand new! It’s the button tab bracelet with orange, pink, blue, green, and white colored tabs….the closest item sold by Coach today isn’t as colorful but it’s featured below as well.

Minus the bag and Guess watch, everything was under $50! I love style and fashion but please believe I’m a bargain hunter and always trying to get more bang for my buck! The jeans are priced at $45 but with a 30% off code I added to my cart that day, they were way less. The dip-dyed espadrilles…uh hello, Tar-Jay (Target) only $19! Even the Lane Bryant top was a steal! Regularly priced over $30, I used a 50% off code for my entire purchase! Seriously, sign up for emails or follow the store accounts on Twitter/Facebook….that’s how I find the sales! They aren’t hard to spot!

So, what do you think? Are we liking this choice? Should I possibly feature MORE OOTD posts? Am I asking too many questions?

Hope you enjoyed!

Tasty Tuesday with TastyKake Kandy Bar Kakes

Yes, that was definitely a mouthful…literally and figuratively!

Soooo…. Influenster has a good thing going here! Not only do you get beauty products but sometimes there’s a treat or two in the box!! Thankfully and luckily, this little sugar-peanut butter-aholic got her hands on a TastyKake!!

A Peanut Butter & Chocolate TastyKake to be exact! Just what I needed to have a complete and total diet fail lol but a cheat day was in order! I took one little bite and entered heaven…seriously, heaven guys! I’m going to work out extra hard tonight, I promise!

These treats are a part of a new product line from TastyKake’s Kandy Bar Kake which includes; S’mores, Peppermint and Peanut Butter. Each “Kake” is made with a candy bar in mind. The peanut butter Kandy Bar Kake is made with real Reese’s Peanut Butter (which by the way is absolutely delish on its’ own!), peppermint is made with real York Peppermint flavors and the S’mores Kandy Bar is made with real Hershey’s cocoa!

Just go out and get one already!! I’m salivating just thinking about it!!

Mani Monday

Welcome to Monday stylish sweets! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

If you already LIKE my Facebook page then you already got a “sneak preview” of the things inside my Influenster Spring Vox Box! One of the cool products were imPRESS Press-on Manicure by Broadway Nails. This post is in review for the free testing goodies from Influenster!

Check them out in action below…

They actually turned out pretty CUTE! I added a touch of glitter for my accent nail but they’re cute without the extra touch! Who knew press on nails could be this cool. Surprisingly, they lasted more than two days too! Leery is the word that comes to mind when I think of press on nails. With doing so much stuff with my hands everyday like tweeting, I didn’t think they’d last but they did!

Peel and stick. Peel and stick. Peel and stick.

That’s all I had to plus I pressed each nail down firmly and rub the nail to warm up the adhesive (because stuff sticks better when it’s warm…this is science) The color is “Tweetheart” which is absolutely fitting, looks purple-y pink-ish…I love bright colors so the color was a bit off to me. Besides that, everything else was great! They lasted me about 3 days before I started seeing the thumb nail rise up near the cuticle. I didn’t feel like removing them right that instant so I did it the next day. The directions inform you to peel the nail right off or you can add polish remover around the edges. I started with peeling which was pretty easy then after two nails I decided to use remover with a Q-tip to the edges. That technique made it even easier!

Final thoughts, definitely a do! They’ll work great for a weekend vacation, special event or a night out!

Spring has Sprung!

Figured I’d get this week started off right and welcome myself back to you stylish chicks and dudes!  I had to take a quick break from blogging and tweeting everyday to get back focused. Going through real life stressful events like relationships or family stuff can take its’ toll on a chick and “ain’t nobody got time for that!” Gotta keep my mind fresh so I can bring you guys some of the dopest and not so dope styles for us curvy chicks! This week will be filled with a few product reviews and maybe an outfit or two.

Product reviews are fun! You get to tell a company what you like and don’t like about their product and they HAVE to listen/read! I’m not a big name blogger but sometimes a company rep will acknowledge what I write about and that’s the best thing in customer service right now! Speaking of products and their companies, a few months ago, I received an invite via email to become a member of a “product review” community. Now, if you know ANYTHING about me by now, it should be that I absolutely hate signing up for stuff!! Sites always want you to sign up, register, create an account, add another password to the hundreds you already have. Well, I don’t like doing that so when I opened this email from “Influenster” to sign up, I wanted to punch my laptop screen (not really but ya know)

Anywho, after diving into the deep end of another user account to manage, I quickly realized, Influenster is pretty damn addictive AND dope! You complete online tasks, get badges and rack up as many points as you can while commenting and reviewing products! Tons of items I already have in my bathroom so those were easy but then somehow, if you get enough points you’re chosen to get a “Vox Box.” A box delievered via USPS filled with beauty products, snacks and other goodies!! There’s tasks to complete once you get a box, like reviewing, taking pics, YouTube-ing, tweeting, and other ways to test the products. Doing all of those things earns points and extra badges and qualifies you for other promotions!

So umm I say a BIG hells yeah!

Here’s the “Spring Vox Box” that I received:

Includes:

Secret Outlast Clear Gel Antiperspirant Deodorant ($4.50)

NYC New York Color Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm ($2.99)

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure ($5.99-7.99)

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Dust It ($23.50)

Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes ($4.49)

Yep! All of those goodies are mine for the testing thanks to Influenster! Of course, I don’t have to write about the products but I’m digging this so stay tuned for more updates!

Morning Linkage: Cup 31

The Prescription: Coffee!

Good Saturday morning stylish sweets!

I’d much rather be back in bed snuggled under the covers, freezing because I don’t want to get up and turn the air condition off. Since we’re awake, might as well get this Saturday party started right…with coffee!

I’m seriously thinking about purchasing a Keurig. I’ve tinkered with the idea but now it’s time to take the leap to the techie side of java (see what I did there?)

Anywho, since I was unable to post linkage earlier this week ie Monday like I hoped…I’m giving you guys a dose of link fun on a Saturday!

Here’s your morning linkage. . .

Did you enjoy the high couture fashion of the Met Gala earlier this week? I sure did. Seeing all the celebs on the red carpet made me think of other big red carpet moments. ELLE clearly had the same idea! ~ Best Red Carpet Dresses

Love, love, love reading beauty blogs! Learning a new make-up technique or finding a new product will never get old to me! Check out Zoe – Lianne Blog, a fellow blogger from the UK! I may need to move there just so I can shop! ~ Zoe – Lianne Blog

I sent out the call (tweeted) for my fellow bloggers to send me their links and you guys answered right away! Reading other plus size blogs is always fun. Love seeing everyone’s personal style and take on fashion. So this stylish blog to check out is “Call Me Kim” by Kim of course! ~ Call Me Kim

Mainstream is finally starting to catch on to women with curves…just a little. The retail giant H & M featured plus size model Jennie Runk on the front page of their website this past week. ~ Huffingtonpost Women

Speaking of plus sizes and retail, the CEO at Abercrombie & Fitch just became a bigger douche than he was before! And when did an XL become plus size?! *sigh*  ~ Perez Hilton

Rudeness just went haywire this week! One “sports blogger” (I use that term VERY loosely) from CBS, recently called a cheerleader from the NBA team OKC “chunky.” The Oklahoma City cheerleader Kelsey Williams fired back with a vengeance! ~ ABC News (video)

On a much more positive note, FELLAS….you know how you have Casual Male XL…well now Destination XL has expanded….plus size men aka the “big and tall” The company launched a media campaign this week!  ~ NY Times

‘Tis all for now stylish sweets! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, enjoy!

Curvy Beauty: Mariesther Venegas

This week featured curvy goddess is Mariesther Venegas  who appeared in a media campaign by plus size clothing site NavabiNavabi filmed this short during Berlin Fashion Week in 2012 titled “FINALLY navabi” to shine a spotlight on designer clothing for us curve loving fashionistas! “Finally – designer fashion beyond a size 14” is the tag line and guess what…I’m loving it! Check out the campaign in the featured YouTube video!

Just because I may have fell in love with Ms. Mariesther…..here’s a couple more pics!

(I need those shoes btw…they remind me of a Rachel Zoe pair that sold out at Saks…must find!)

Curves…gotta freakin’ love’em!!

Tune In: Music Mix

Hey stylish sweets! Since I had some technical difficulties this week aka my power adapter cord for my laptop completely fizzled out while typing! Talk about a disaster! Luckily, I was able to give you guys a taste of the Met Gala via mobile blogging. It’s amazing how technology can fail and create all at the same damn time! Speaking of technology, Curves and Coffee will undergo an overhaul in the coming weeks. Definitely time for a fresh new look so stay tuned and I’ll keep you updated.

Anywho, time to turn up your Thursday!

Drop City Yacht Club…ok, gotta admit….I never heard this song or heard of the group until someone told me to listen to it a few weeks ago. Now I can’t get the song out of my head!!! Hey Jeremih!

Um Selena Gomez dun growed up on us, y’all!! And is she telling someone to “Come and Get It”?! Ok Ms. Gomez, do your thing!

Instant Classic. You really can’t go wrong with any song that features 50 Cent, Eminem AND Adam Levine!!!

Everyone knows I’m a very colorful and visual person so when I got wind that Iggy Azalea was making a new video with India in mind……I couldn’t wait to see the finished product! Bounce really does make you wanna bounce and do traditional Indian dances. This vid has a total Bollywood theme and I love it!

Enjoy your day and happy almost Friday!!
